In college and law school one of the easiest treats to bring to a party was what some call Puppy Chow (other names include: Muddy Buddies and Monkey Bunch). It was always a delicious treat and one that you just couldn’t stop putting into your mouth. While looking around at some of my favorite blog spots, I found a recipe for what they call Poppy Chow! Let’s be honest, peanut butter + chocolate + popcorn = AMAZING! Keep reading to find out about this tasty and simple recipe!

Total Time: 40 minutes

6 cups Plain Popcorn (I used two regular sized popcorn bags)

1 cup Semisweet Chocolate Chips

½ cup Creamy Peanut Butter

¼ cup Unsalted Butter

1½ Powdered Sugar

(1) Melt chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter in a double broiler (or as I like to use, a bowl placed in a saucepan of water over the stove) until smooth.

(2) Divide popcorn into two bowls. (You can try to use one bowl, but it seemed like too much for me. Dividing it up made it much more manageable). Also be very careful not to get any of the un-popped kernels in the bowl. They will be very hard to deal with when trying to enjoy your poppy chow. Pour half the chocolate mixture over one bowl of popcorn, and the other half of chocolate over the other bowl of popcorn. Using a rubber spatula or even a wooden spoon, stir and fold until all popcorn is completely covered.

(3) Sift powdered sugar over each bowl and stir until completely covered. Spread the mixture on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. I mixed the powdered sugar in the bowls, but I also sprinkled some over the popcorn at the end.

(4) Enjoy!
